The Role

A combined and ‘hands on’ role that sits across product and operations with a specific focus on our corporate travel line of business. The purpose of the role is to ensure we implement products and services which:

a) Enhance the experience for our Corporate TC’s,

b) Enables them to retain and pursue clients

c) Align with our digital transformation and shift towards a ‘self-serve’ support environment.

As a business Travel Counsellors for Business offers a truly unique travel management proposition for the SME market, currently ranked 17th largest TMC in the UK and growing at a rate of 17% YoY.

Our corporate travel business is a key growth pillar in the coming years and has a vast amount of market headroom to improve and expand therefore it is crucial we find the right person to play a pivotal role in helping shape the future of the corporate travel business. You will be responsible for developing an aligned strategy for client and TC operational technology as well as business process improvement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and implement products and service that will help to support our mission of transforming the travel experience for customers and the lives of its Travel Counsellors, colleagues, and communities.
  • Implementing new innovative ideas to further aid the company’s disruption of the traditional agency model by enhancing the existing platform which currently supports over 1900 Travel Counsellors in six countries (UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa and the UAE).
  • Own the product and technology strategy and roadmap for corporate travel in collaboration with the MD for Corporate Travel
  • Continue to build powerful platforms and further invest the company’s proprietary technology and support platform which allows talented, ambitious entrepreneurs to truly change their lives and scale their own businesses in a way that suits them and their customers, providing unlimited earning potential and a more personal and bespoke level of service.
  • Select and implement an online booking solution that is suitable for a high touch SME environment, that still retains the human touch, customer first approach that we adopt here at Travel Counsellors.
  • Build self-serve training and support for this.
  • Be a leader for TC operational support escalation (support process for operations, product and technology to be identified, defined and implemented leveraging interdependencies across the business)
  • Define and implement processes and support needs for the client journey (post sales) to include implementation, payment solutions and contracting, account management, data aggregation and reporting
  • Continuously improve processes with a goal to heightened efficiency and automation
  • Driver of key relationships across the business ensuring alignment to overall digital transformation strategy
  • Liaison to internal departments such as sales, operations, data management, IT, etc.
  • Works closely with internal and external partners in successfully managing time sensitive projects.

Skills and Experience

  • A proven track record of success and experience in corporate travel, ideally with some experience in the SME market.
  • Proven multi-functional leadership experience gained within a similar position, at a similar level.
  • Track record of developing and executing plans with a ‘hands-on’ / ‘rolled up sleeves’ approach
  • Previous experience of influencing at a senior level, both internally and externally.
  • Previous experience of working within an entrepreneurial based business where you have demonstrated your ability to develop new products and exploit growth opportunities.
  • You will be internationally focussed, understanding the opportunities and challenges that this brings and understanding how to navigate these to achieve success.
