Role Summary

An excellent opportunity has become available for a Group General Counsel & Company Secretary to join Travel Counsellors to support our business to even greater success. Based in our Manchester support centre, this international role requires a diligent and credible legal professional with proven expertise and experience in providing legal counsel at Executive Board level and familiar with the requirements of a Company Secretary.

Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role will responsible for ensuring that Travel Counsellors operates in the required legal frameworks as dictated by the relevant jurisdiction, and coordinating legal activities in the territories in which we operate in. Further to this, the Group General Counsel & Company Secretary will be responsible for regulatory, risk management and health and safety activity, creating and monitoring effective governance across the Group.

The successful candidate will have the gravitas to operate and add value at Executive Board level and will naturally share, relate to and embody the Company’s values and business model of caring, people, service and relationships, championing the ‘intimacy’ differentiator that makes our business special.

Skills & Experience

We’re looking for a qualified lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction with 10+ years of legal experience in a private practice and/or industry, ideally at a private equity backed business with a global aspect. Important to this role is a demonstrable level of experience in and exposure to a broad range of commercial issues, including commercial contracts, employment, litigation and due diligence. Additionally, experience in leading projects with a legal/regulatory, compliance or risk management focus is also vital to being successful in this role.

A strong communicator who can operate in a fast-paced, commercial environment, the successful candidate will be able to take complex issues and provide clear explanations and practical solutions to the business, internal stakeholders and the Executive Board.

Whilst experience in Travel (and/or Franchising) is not a pre-requisite, knowledge of the industry (and/or Franchising) is advantageous.
