Lana's left her ITC host company to join Travel Counsellors and has never looked back.

Lana first started her travel business at the end of 2005. She worked from home and issued her tickets through a retail agency. she did not have any support like (back office, marketing, access to any colleagues or a head office team). Travel Counsellors was able to offer this and more so she joined in March 2009.

Lana is happily married with a 13-year daughter in high school. She has 2 Miniature pinchers named Hogan and Halle (who only has 3 legs). She has 2 cats Tinkerbell and Lily. They are all rescues and we have a rescued finch name ‘Voelie’ LOL yup named by my hubbie.

What’s on your bucket list?

I am living my bucket list living where I do. I would love to travel more and to see the Northern Lights, to visit Croatia and to take Morgy to Disney in Florida.

What does being a Travel Counsellor mean you?

Becoming a Travel Counsellor has given me a better work - life balance. I am able to go for lunch with my hubbie, to attend school and networking events. I can work from anywhere making it easier to have a bit more ‘me time’ – go to the hairdresser etc.

What motivated you to start your own travel business?

The birth of my daughter Morgan as I did not want to miss out on her growing up. I wanted to be there for all her milestones. I was a single mom shortly after she was born, so working for myself enabled me to be there for her.

What attracted you to the Travel Counsellors model?

It was the support that they offer.

Have you set yourself any goals or milestones for 2019?

Yes, I have set goals for my business. A personal goal for myself is to stay fit and to reach my goal weight.

How have you grown your business?

I rely on word of mouth and it has worked so well over the years. I attend networking groups. I am in charge of the Tourism portfolio at CABA – Cape Agulhas Business Association. I send out email marketing to clients. I stay in touch with those customers who I haven't spoken to in a while. I use the digital insights that Travel Counsellors provides, so that I know who to reach out to.

What do you love most about working in the travel industry? I love making my customers travel dreams come true. I love learning about new products. It is even better when I can experience the destination first hand.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I would love to see the Northern Lights it is such a beautiful phenomenon. I would love to take my daughter to Disney Florida with some stop overs in the USA to see friends.

What does your future without limits look like?

  • I am looking forward to celebrating my next 10 years with TC.

  • I have financial goals in sight that I am working to achieve.

  • I would love to reach Gold Status again.

What do you think that your customers most appreciate about you being a TC?

They love that I am always available, even if I am 'unavailable' taking a call in the middle of a gym class. They love the personal service that I offer them and the friendships that we have built over time.
