Tell us a little bit about yourself... I am a wife and mother of 2 children, aged 20 and 24 years. I enjoy doing crafts IE. sewing, crochet, knitting etc. I have had the luxury of travelling recently to Mauritius. Other destinations that I have travelled to are: Victoria Falls, Dubai, Qatar, Thailand, Singapore, Amsterdam, Switzerland, New York, Florida, New Orleans and Mississippi. I have travelled domestically and have spent a wonderful week in the Kruger National Park this year. I would love to travel more internationally so that I can experience more of the the places and destinations that I get to book for my clients.

What is your background and where did you work before becoming a Travel Counsellor? I have worked as a Travel Consultant at Sure Uhambo Travel for 2 years. I have worked at Rennies BCD Travel for 12,5 years and now I have taken the leap to start my own travel franchise.

What does becoming a Travel Counsellor mean for you? I am looking forward to Travel Counsellors helping me put the joy back into travel again. I have a passion for travel and in my previous role it I felt like I was stuck in a rut. I can't wait to be able to spend more attention to customers where I can build strong relationships with them. I have the time to devote to my new venture as I do not have small children or other distractions. I have the capacity and facility to make my new business a success as I am a hard worker and I have a good work ethic. Working as a Travel Counsellor will take me get out of my comfort zone and I am eager to learn as much as I can.

What motivated you to start your own travel business? I have always had the desire to become an ITC once the children became adults. I would like to get out of my comfort zone and push myself by taking more risks. Becoming a Travel Counsellor franchisee seemed like the next logical step, as I enter the next exciting phase of my life. I am excited to prove to myself that I can be an entrepreneur all the while being supported by my head office.

What are you looking forward to most about being a Travel Counsellor? Being in control of my own time and giving good customer service. The ability to earn more as I build a new client base and being able to get repeat business is important to me.

Have you set yourself any goals or milestones for what you want to achieve in your first year? I would like to develop a core number of clients. I would like to create a footprint in the leisure market within my surrounding area. I want to be customer centric, to able to measure the cost savings, passed onto my corporate clients. I want to grow as an entrepreneur and to being able to identify new opportunities to grow my business.

What do you love most about working in the travel industry? I love that no two days are ever the same and that that every day I will always be learning something new. Travel is an adventure and I enjoy assisting my customers to make their travels a reality. I love hearing the feedback from customers after their trips.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I would like to visit Spain to see the beautiful architecture and the richness in culture and cuisine. I would also like to tour the Barcelona soccer stadium and to attend a Barcelona soccer match.
