Meet Muzette who has completed her 5-day induction training. She is now ready to start servicing her customers and building her own travel business. We caught up with her to find out more about her and her journey to deciding to become a Travel Counsellor.
I have been with my husband for 10 years and we have been married for 5 years. We are blessed with the most adorable little 2-year-old boy. We have 2 toy poms who are best friends, and we have moved into our beautiful home in Wilropark in Oct 2018. We are a tight knit Christian family, who love spending time with friends and loved ones and we enjoy the outdoors, cooking together and playing fun games Like darts and card games.
Right from a young child we enjoyed family vacations and loved spending time with each other on the beach, in the mountains or in the bushveld. Some of my favourite trips include: On The Go Vietnam Tour in 2012. In 2013 I travelled to Cancun with one of my best friends and I fell in love with the natural beauty, beaches, culture, food and history... Our honeymoon in 2015 was spectacular as we did something a bit different to the ordinary honeymoon. We went to New York, Miami and embarked on a Royal Caribbean Cruise to the Bahamas for almost 2 weeks. Wow - what an amazing trip! I also experienced snow, sun, sea and sand in 2018...
What is your background and where did you work before becoming a Travel Counsellor? I've been working in the Travel Industry since I was 20 years old... This all started after leaving SA to go live and work in the UK for a year. But that's not where my love for travel started. I was only 17 when I was privileged enough to join 30 school children on a 3-week Euro Trip of a lifetime! This is when the travel bug bit me and has never let go since. LOL. After returning from the UK, I started working for Flight Centre where I was fortunate enough to work my way up the ladder quickly. I was able to get experience in various roles in management positions at many retail stores, I was a Senior Travel expert, a Corporate expert and a Novice development trainer. How funny is it that I quit my studies for a degree in BA Tourism at age 19... just to find myself loving the industry and making a success of it 12 years later!
What does becoming a Travel Counsellor mean for you? The business, systems, product and destination knowledge that I gained whilst working for a large retail store for almost 9 years, has equipped me with invaluable skills. This will help me to build my business. Travel Counsellors was able to make my dream a reality. With all the knowledge, discipline and skills that I have obtained, I am finally able to call myself, Boss lady or as my hubby would say " CEO Moose.”
I can now channel all my energy to focus on my own travel business and onto my clients. I never have to worry about targets, unnecessary meetings and compulsory events. I am 100% in control. I am accountable and responsible for my own destiny and I have the full support and back up from the Travel Counsellors Head office team.
Working from the comfort of my own home will give me the opportunity to service my clients better. At the same time, I can offer them flexibility in spending more time with my family! This is an absolute WIN-WIN for me and the best decision that I've made for myself.
What motivated you to start your own travel business? My biggest motivation for starting my own travel business was my son. I absolutely love my job... but I love my son and my husband a lot more. Running my own travel business from home will give me best of both worlds. Time is the one thing that you can never get back, so I want to make sure that I use it wisely!
There comes a time in your life when you realize that you are capable, competent, responsible and strong enough. This is why I was finally ready to start my own travel business. I am a strong woman who believes in my own abilities to run a successful travel business. I know that I can be an awesome wife and mommy at the same time.
What are you looking forward to most about being a Travel Counsellor? I look forward to growing my own successful business and having the flexibility, the best systems and the support all from the comfort of my home. I'm excited about having the freedom to do what I love most in my own way and that I have a head office team who will give me all the support and guidance. My earning potential is great, and this will mean that can be book more holidays for myself and my family. I will be 100% accountable and in control of my own success - and that makes me very excited!

What do you love most about working in the travel industry? I love that I have the opportunity to make people's dreams become a reality. I love that travel is a passion that I love to do myself.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Shoooo... It would be between Bora Bora and Norway. I love the beach, sea and sun.... Bora Bora looks like the ultimate beach destination. It's Picture perfect! ... But on the other hand, ... I've always wanted to see the Aurora lights and to experience the ultimate snow holiday in a log cabin with a hot tub and fireplace! Plus, husky sledding, skiing, ice fishing and of course a stay in a glass igloo to sleep under the stars for a night!
