As we further enhance our digital platform, we’re investing in additional data roles to interface between our business, data and technology functions. These roles will drive the ongoing transformation of our proposition to end-customers (travellers) and our network of nearly 2,000 Travel Counsellors who create incredible travel experiences for their leisure and corporate customers.
We’re looking for a self-motivated Data Scientist to join our special business to support the strategic development of our business platform. Based at our Support Office in Manchester, you will build upon our existing data, software and people platforms and shape the adoption of data science to drive the strategic value of data.
Leveraging the support of our Strategic Pillar Leads, working with the Travel Counsellors data platform, bespoke Phenix booking system and other data services you will analyse data and develop new models to support our ambitious business objectives.
You’ll have the opportunity to work on greenfield projects, taking the lead on data science, Al and machine learning, whilst being a data evangelist within the wider organisation showing colleagues and peers how data science is critical for strategic growth.
We operate with pace at Travel Counsellors, so you’ll need to be comfortable working in an agile and fast-paced environment, you’ll be an expert in machine learning approaches such as clustering, forecasting, predicting and recommending and have experience using SQL, Python, Pyspark and/or Databricks alongside knowledge of relational databases.
As well as being an experienced Data Scientist, you’ll be engaging and collaborative – with the ability to use data to inform decisions and make recommendations. You’ll be able to articulate your findings with senior stakeholders and gain their trust to support with decision making. Open and curious, having the autonomy to work independently when facing complex data problem/solutioning.
No previous travel or franchise experience is required, we’ll teach you that, but you’ll need to be comfortable and effective when dealing with stakeholders, at all levels, championing the data strategy and objectives. To be successful you’ll need to be restless and driven to constantly improve, going above and beyond to deliver exceptional results.
