Embracing Flexibility and Independence

What were you doing prior to becoming a TC, and why did you join?

Prior to joining Travel Counsellors, I was working with the Emirates Group at the Strategic Partnership Division of dnata. What attracted me to joining was having my own business and driving it the way I like. Flexibility, specifically location freedom, that allows me to work from anywhere and at any time I wish to do so.

How would you describe the technology at Travel Counsellors?

The customer-facing app MyTC is an excellent tool for servicing customers, receiving payments, initiating bookings, storing itineraries, and sharing travel ideas and tips. It is also a great tool for clients, as they get to have their forthcoming and past trips stored in one place. The app offers an interactive surface with essential information about their holidays, the destination they are visiting and important contact numbers during their holidays in case they need to reach out to any hotel or service provider.

The back-office Phenix system is a fully operational tour operator system. It helps me design itineraries (simple and complex ones), bringing all travel products together to create tailored journeys for my clients. It has a great CRM tool which helps me keep connected with my clients and create profile that is unique for each customer, which helps me understand the segment of each client, their travel data, documents & insights of their travel preferences.

How would you describe the support at TC?

TC offers an online Training Tool that is called “Discover”, which is like a hub for all kinds of learning materials, from product knowledge, which includes hotels and resorts, to destinations, marketing, social media, finance, to customer service, even wellbeing and mindset materials.

How does it feel to be part of the TC community?

It feels amazing to work with a community that shares the same level of passion for travel, yet who are like-minded and entrepreneurial. We get to travel together during Familiarisation trips, and we meet occasionally at events which feel like an extended big family of travel experts.

What opportunities have you had since becoming a TC?

I truly appreciate the exposure that I get with Travel Counsellors, whether it’s an event, social media/online feature, or site visits. Besides, the big reward that I get to travel as part of Familiarisation trips, which includes staying in some of the most exotic resorts in the world. Attending the annual Travel Counsellors Conference is a truly inspiring experience that gives the opportunity to learn from successful peers, international speakers, and network with suppliers from all over the world.

What’s the best thing about being a TC?

For me, the best thing about being a TC is living the freedom that I have always dreamed of living while continuing to learn, grow, travel, get inspired and inspire others.

Second best thing is creativity, that sometimes I feel like an artist who is beyond passionate about creating unforgettable memories for my clients & the joy that comes from wowing them.
