Flexibility for Family and Career Success
What were you doing before becoming a TC?
Before transitioning into becoming a Travel Counsellor, I worked in banking with a focus on trade finance. Following this, I took a career break during which I was living in the United States and focused on raising my children.
What attracted you to TC?
What attracted me to Travel Counsellors was the flexibility it offers, which allows me to balance my professional life with raising my children. The ability to manage my schedule means I can travel back home and spend quality time with family without having to pause or compromise my work commitments. This level of work-life balance was a key factor in my decision to join Travel Counsellors.
How would you describe the technology at Travel Counsellors?
Travel Counsellors has great technology that makes planning trips easier for both me and my clients. Our main system, Phenix, helps me put together travel plans quickly with up-to-date prices and lots of hotel options. This means I can create trips that fit exactly what my clients want.
The myTC app gives clients all their travel details in one place and keeps them updated in real time. They can see their tickets, itineraries, and even message me if they have questions.
Because these tools work so well together, I’m able to provide my clients with a smooth and personal service, ensuring their trips go as planned without any stress.
How would you describe the support at TC?
The support at Travel Counsellors has been excellent. There's always someone ready to help and answer any questions, which creates a strong sense of community and makes a real difference, especially when you're working independently.
How does it feel to be part of the TC community?
Being part of the Travel Counsellors community feels incredibly empowering and supportive. Even though I work independently, I never feel alone—there’s always someone to turn to for advice or answers to any questions. It’s a collaborative environment where everyone genuinely wants to see each other succeed.
What opportunities have you’ve had since becoming a TC
Since becoming a Travel Counsellor, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of exciting and rewarding experiences. I’ve taken part in numerous fam trips, which have allowed me to explore destinations first-hand and build the kind of deep product knowledge that really enhances the service I offer to my clients. Beyond leisure travel, I’ve also worked on larger-scale projects such as organising company conferences for business clients, where attention to detail and seamless logistics are key. Additionally, I’ve supported sports clubs with their travel arrangements, ensuring entire teams travel smoothly for events and competitions. These experiences have expanded my skill set and shown me just how diverse the travel industry can be.
What’s the best thing about being a TC
The best thing about being a Travel Counsellor is the freedom and flexibility it gives me to build a business I’m passionate about, while still being present for my family. I have the independence to work on my own terms, but with the constant support of a caring and knowledgeable community. Whether I’m planning a dream holiday, organising a corporate conference, or arranging team travel for a sports club, every day brings something new and rewarding. I also love that I can travel for work—through fam trips and visiting family—without ever having to pause my business. It truly offers the best of both worlds: professional growth and personal balance.
