Celebrating 25 years of Moments that Matter
Travel Counsellors was founded 25 years ago. At the Travel Counsellors Global conference held on 15 – 17 November we celebrated our 25th silver Anniversary.
The theme for the weekend was Moments that Matter. This encompasses the special moments that our Travel Counsellors create for their customers. Over the course of the weekend we looked back to the last 25 years where we have created moments that matter for each other, our customers and for the communities that we work within.
Travel Counsellors is a business that was founded and built on care. The success of our past 25 years is down to the brilliant people in our community who daily go the extra mile for their customers, and put simply, show more care than anyone else.
Travel Counsellors is as disruptive now as it was 25 years ago. Never standing still, never giving up, never losing sight of our goals. As a business we are continuing to redefine what personal service means in both corporate and leisure travel. Day by day, booking by booking, from small steps to giant leaps, this community holds fast to what people hold dear – the personal, human touch – creating outstanding travel experiences, and ultimately, the moments that truly matter.
Over the weekend, 2000 delegates reflected on the incredible legacy that we have created so far, and we were shown the future of where Travel Counsellors are going.
We heard from many key speakers from within the business along with 2 inspiring people; Sahar Hashemi who was the founder of the Coffee Republic Chain alongside her brother and then from Bear Grylls.
Travel Counsellor Marianda Maritz take home from conference was this; "Sahar Hashemi, founder of Coffee Republic – don’t let someone else take your idea and become a success – do it yourself. Nicola Adams – champion boxer - be energetic. Bear Grylls an adventurer – be humble and the four F’s (embrace failure, face your fear, find your fire within and draw from your faith) & NGU (Never Give Up)."
We had many brilliant entertainers with a favourite being Gary Barlow from Take That, and Belle Voci – voices of angels, the hilarious comedian Dara O’ Briain, Paloma Faith took to the decks and Only Men Allowed kept us entertained.
Many fabulous prizes where given away over the weekend and Travel Counsellor Natalie Matthews won a trip to see the Northern Lights! A bucket list trip!
It was brilliant weekend filled with celebrations and the culmination was the Gala Awards Dinner where we celebrated the success of Top TC’s from across the globe.
The Best TC South Africa was awarded to a TC duo Nina Gerdener and Mercia Gerber and the runner up nominees where Nicci Hayden, Helga Wenning, Siobhan Nel.
