I am passionate about travel & people. 20 years ago, I set a goal that I wanted to start my own travel business. I am now at that very age.

Travel and people are my two biggest passions in life. I am ambitius. 20 years ago I set myself a goal that I wanted to own my own travel business. It is now 20 years later and I am excited to share with you that I have started my own travel business with Travel Counsellors. We caught up with Nolo to find out more about her journey...

What is your background and where did you work before becoming a Travel Counsellor? I have always had a passion for travel so studying travel seemed like a natural decision. I have 10 years working experience in the following positions; a Marketing Manager, a Regional Account Manager, a Leisure Travel Expert, an Assistant Manager and as a Sales Executive. Now I am putting all my experience to good use and starting my own travel business.

Tell us a little bit about yourself My family is everything to me. I am the eldest of 2 children. My younger brother is 19 years old. I am an ambivert, so I like being around people, interacting with them, learning from them and creating memories with them. But on the other hand, I enjoy my peaceful quiet time, reading a book, relaxing and spoiling myself. I am passionate about people. So any community work, uplifting others through service makes me happy. I enjoy music, watching reality TV and surrounding myself with close friends and family. I have had the privilege of seeing the beauty of South Africa on many road trips. I have also had opportunities to travel to Mauritius, Singapore, Bali and Thailand.

What does becoming a Travel Counsellor mean for you? The first words that come to mind when I think about being a "Travel Counsellor" is INDEPENDENCE, BALANCE and EARNINGS. I will have more time to study further and also to assist my family with the needs of my grandmother who was diagnosed with Dementia 2 years ago. I will also be able to work in a calm and quiet space, taking care of my clients' needs with ease and convenience.

What motivated you to start your own travel business?

  • The hunger for independence, while still serving my clients.
  • Finally starting a business that is my own.
  • 20 years ago, I set a goal to start my own travel business. I am right at my goal age.

What are you looking forward to most about being a Travel Counsellor? I am looking forward to the journey in its-self. The growth, the achievements and the success that will follow. I am looking forward to making money... lots of money as well.

Have you set yourself any goals or milestones for what you want to achieve in your first year? Yes, I have. I want to buy my own house in the coming year. That is what I am working towards in this year.

What do you love most about working in the travel industry? It's a young, fresh and vibey industry. Travel workers never age. (LOL) I love the idea of helping people realise their travel dreams. Whether it's a destination, or a tour or an experience. Travel changes people's perceptions, it opens their eyes, and I love that I can be that door way to that experience.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Around Africa. Our continent poses such beauty, history and culture. Life itself started in Africa. South America because of its natural beauty, the food and the culture experiences.

Do you have a love for travel and people? If you would like to put all your travel working experience to good use, then why not get in touch. Like Nolo you too can enjoy the benefits of independence, balance and increased earnings. If yo would like to find out more then get in touch.
