Meet Candice who has just become a franchisee of Travel Counsellors

Candice is now a franchisee of Travel Counsellors. Having completed her induction online we asked her some questions about her journey. Look at what she had to say.

I have an amazing husband and wonderful 4-year-old son named Tristan. My husband is currently working in the United Kingdom and my son and I are living in Cape Town at Big Bay. I love to travel. Destinations that I have visited include Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Seychelles, Zanzibar, Singapore, Thailand and the United Kingdom. My favourite destination is Zanzibar because of its culture is so unique. I love too, that you can experience the African bush combined with beach.

How did you get into travel? I can remember while being at school, that I always wanted to be in travel. After school I completed my 2-year diploma in tourism. I started my first job in travel as a junior consultant. I earned many awards for being the top consultant. I have held various positions in travel. My last position I became a supervisor at a well-respected wholesale travel company. Now I am a business owner.

What does becoming a Travel Counsellor mean to you? I have put all my working experience in travel to good use and I have started my own travel business. I am now a franchisee of Travel Counsellors. I decided to become a Travel Counsellor because it would allow me to start my own travel business. It will also give me flexibility where I can determine my working hours. It will also give me freedom where I can spend more time with my son and with my family. It will bring change in my personal life. I am looking forward to being able to give my full attention to my clients. I look forward to being able to offer them the very best in customer service.

What motivated you to start your own travel business? Covid-19 has been a massive part of my decision as it has shown us all how important travel is in all our lives. As people we are so accustomed to freedom and to travel. Lockdown has caused us all to feel like we are missing out on life and adventure. Travel has given me the drive to inspire people to travel through our beautiful country.

What are you looking forward to most about being a Travel Counsellor? I am so looking forward to having flexibility in my life. where I can have quality time with my family all the while building a business that will allow me to earn my own salary.

Have you set yourself any goals or milestones for what you want to achieve in your first year? My ultimate goal is to build lasting relationships with my customers. I want to build loyalty where my customers will always come to me for all their travel requirements.

Have you started planning how you will grow your business/find new customers, and if so how? Yes, I have, I have been reaching out to family and friends who are keen on planning their next trip. Many of these friends and family have had to cancel their trip due to COVID-19.

What do you love most about working in the travel industry? I have a passion for arranging and planning my customers trips. I love turning their holiday dreams into reality. Travel has allowed me to travel the world and shared my experiences with my customers.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? The Maldives - I have always had such wonderful feedback from people on this destination. The photos and videos from Maldives sell the destination on its own.

Can you relate to Candice's story? Do you want to start your own travel business? Do you want to be your own boss and write your own pay cheque?
