Meet Colleen and discover why she changed her ITC partner to Travel Counsellors

Colleen has recently changed her ITC host and has partnered with Trave Counsellors. She has completed her 5 day induction training at our Cape Town head office and transition in running her business has been seamless. We caught up with Colleen to find out more about her journey.

What is your background and where did you work before becoming a Travel Counsellor? I started out working at a shuttle company for 3 years, before moving to a large retail group in 2014. I was an assistant team leader in retail before I decided to go on my own and to join their ITC division.

Tell us a little bit about yourself I am a mother of 1, and I am planning for baby number 2. I have a dog and 2 goldfish. I love the outdoors, I love concerts and collecting music & movies. I have travelled to Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Kenya and Zimbabwe.

What does becoming a Travel Counsellor mean for you? Becoming a Travel Counsellor will mean that my customers can have complete peace of mind that their travel is in safe hands. This is due to the support that Travel Counsellors head office provides. This in turn gives me complete peace of mind knowing that my customers are in good hands. I love that I can build my business all the while being able to spend more time with my family.

What motivated you to start your own travel business? I wanted to break free from the traditional 9 - 5 office jobs. I also wanted to be able to offer an exceptional service to my customers that would delight them.

What are you looking forward to most about being a Travel Counsellor? The support and back up from our head office. Plus, the support and advise that I can get from over 1800 Travel Counsellor colleagues across the globe. I am looking forward to building a profitable business and to being able to deliver a fantastic service to my customers.

Have you set yourself any goals or milestones for what you want to achieve in your first year? In my first year I will focus on laying the foundations for my business. I want my clients to love the Travel Counsellors brand and to love the service that I can deliver to them.

What do you love most about working in the travel industry? I love learning something new every day! Not only from the various travel forums, but also from my customers experiences.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I would love to do a Cape to Cairo Drive as this would enable me to tick off many more countries that are on my bucket list. I would also love to experience the off the beaten tracks of Africa without the constraints of time.

If you too can relate to Colleen's story then why not get in touch. We would love to show you how we believe that we can give you the very best chance of success.
