Meet Danny Dack, who recently hit this incredible milestone. Find out how he’s grown his business, while enjoying the flexibility that comes with being your own boss.

Hi Danny! How have you built your business to achieve Gold? What’s been your secret to success?

I have built my business to achieve Gold by offering a personal service to my clients and staying close to them to build the best relationship possible. My biggest secret to success is to ask for referrals at every single opportunity. My clients are my biggest supporters!

How have the Relationship Managers supported you and contributed to your business growth?

The Relationship Management team have been a credit to me building my business. They are always there at the end of the phone when I need them. I also try to take part in as many training opportunities they offer as I can. Their training events have played a major part in me achieving Gold.

How have you leant on the support and knowledge of the Travel Counsellors community?

The support and knowledge of our community is the most powerful tool I have at my fingertips. There is always another Travel Counsellor who’s happy to help you! With the community message board, TC World, it’s so simple to find a Travel Counsellor that has been there and done that. There are some Travel Counsellors that I speak to daily and a lot of them will be friends for life.

Talk about some of the training, learning, and development opportunities you’ve had as a Travel Counsellor

As mentioned, I try to get involved with as many training events as possible. This is how I have formed my TC ‘family’. I love the Takeover Days at Head Office where I can meet suppliers face-to-face. It’s good to take a day working ‘on’ my business rather than ‘in’ it.

I’ve also been so, so lucky to participate in some amazing FAM trips during my time at Travel Counsellors. These have included several cruises, lots of European destinations, Qatar, Thailand, and my favourite place - South Africa (twice!). These trips have also been a key part of building my business.

How does Phenix empower you and your business?

Phenix is simply amazing! It allows me to create itineraries for my clients that stand out from the rest. My passion is tailormade itineraries and I love that I can build them myself in a matter of minutes – and make a healthy margin too. I was wowed by Phenix from day one, and this continues to evolve on a weekly basis.

Tell us a bit about your role as a cruise ambassador, and why you’re passionate about the cruise industry

In my previous roles, I was a cruise specialist. It’s a product I’ve been passionate about since I joined the industry after first stepping on a cruise ship! It’s such an easy sell when you know how! So, when the role of Cruise Ambassador was introduced to support our Travel Counsellors, I jumped at the chance. This is my way of giving something back to the community.

What’s the best thing about being a Travel Counsellor?

The best thing about being a Travel Counsellor is the flexibility and freedom it’s given me over the past 11 years. I love to travel and can work from anywhere. It’s also allowed me to be there for my son on a daily basis. I’ve not missed out on a single thing.

Why would you recommend Travel Counsellors to anyone who wants to set up their own travel business?

When I joined Travel Counsellors, I did a lot of research into different franchises. Travel Counsellors stood out for me by a million miles. If you are thinking of it, then take the time to visit the team at Venus (the head office). You will not be disappointed. And the community as a whole is something else. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.
