Rachel Hunt shares her story of joining Travel Counsellors from a well known TMC. With her experience and our support, she quickly became one of our top-selling Travel Counsellors.
Our corporate travel sector has played a crucial role in the success of Travel Counsellors throughout the first six months of 2018. The revenue generated from first-half bookings has topped £328 million – an increase in 12% from the same period in 2017.
While we are immensely proud of our award-winning leisure travel offering, it is the rapidly increasing demand from the corporate travel sector which has been the driving force behind our recent growth.
Our global corporate travel bookings increased by 12% to £75 million, while UK sales shot up 15% to £50 million.
This follows a record year for Travel Counsellors, with the company exceeding its £500 million sales milestone in 2017 across the global business which includes Ireland, South Africa, Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
According to figures so far, the most popular destinations by booking volume this year are Dubai, Barcelona and Las Vegas, while top selling locations for the summer 2018 and 2019 periods remain traditional, with Spain, Greece, Italy, Turkey and the USA topping the list.
Sales have also been bolstered by a particularly active post-World Cup July, which saw a 20% rise in bookings compared to the same period last year.
Much of our success can be attributed to the world-class service delivered by over 1,800 Travel Counsellors across the globe, who offer a highly bespoke service with round-the-clock care and attention to every customer, in addition to a secondary management buyout of Travel Counsellors by Vitruvian Partners.
Our Chief Executive, Steve Byrne, spoke about the company’s success through the first two quarters:
“Travel Counsellors success is in no small part due to the care and support we show to our people which includes our travelling customers, the individual Travel Counsellors who run business franchisees with us, and our global support team.
“Travel Counsellors create trusted relationships with customers, making lifelong connections and providing them with a bespoke travel service that’s truly personalised to each client.
“We apply equal measures of care and attention to our business travellers to be able to trust their Travel Counsellor to deliver seamless itineraries as the travel across the globe is an essential requirement to their success. Our concierge-style travel service truly puts care for clients, with attention to their individual requirements, at the heart of everything we do.
“This year we have recruited 155 additional Travel Counsellors who run their own leisure and corporate travel businesses from their home offices and, following our backing by Vitruvian, we will continue to invest in the tools, technology and support that allows them to deliver uniquely personal travel services for their clients.”
