
Meet our Relationship Management Team: Bev Bowers
As we continue shining the spotlight on our wonderful Relationship Managers, this month we’re getting to know Bev Bowers – the longest-serving member of the team. Having been with us for 23 years, she’s built incredible relationships with our Travel Counsellors.
We caught up with Bev to get to know her a little better, and to find out why she loves providing dedicated support to our best-performing business owners.
Hi Bev! You’ve been at Travel Counsellors for 23 years – what do you love about working here?
What is there not to love? I love the people and the community. It feels so nice to want to come to work each day. The Relationship Management team are my work family. We’re always there for each other.
Tell us a bit about what you do day to day as a Relationship Manager
My role is to support the Gold Travel Counsellors from an admin side of things. It could be chasing documentation, reloading files, escalating tickets, and all sorts of other admin tasks. If I’m asked to do something that I don’t usually do, I’ll always give it a go if I can. If I can’t sort the request, I’ll find someone who can assist or signpost the Travel Counsellor to the correct department.
What part of your role do you enjoy the most?
I love every part of my role. For me, being able to help a Travel Counsellor with something they have reached out to me for is job satisfaction.
What’s the secret to building strong relationships with our Travel Counsellors?
I’ve worked at Travel Counsellors for 23 years, and I feel that I have a strong relationship with many of our business owners. The main thing is to be there for them, to listen, and to help them with their request (and hopefully be able to resolve their query).
What’s been your highlight over the last 23 years?
I have many highlights, but being given the role of ‘Gold TC support’ and having my own unique remit means a lot to me. I know I’m making a difference. I’ve worked with many of the Gold Travel Counsellors since I first started in May 2001, and I love that I’m still able to support them to this day.
What do you think sets Travel Counsellors apart from other travel franchises on the market?
Having our own booking system, Phenix. It lets Travel Counsellors build up their business on a margin they feel comfortable with. I also think our wraparound support sets us apart.
Why would you recommend Travel Counsellors to anyone who’s serious about starting up their own travel business?
We have an amazing training team and ongoing support to help you start your business. You’re given a mentor for the first six months, and once you’re up and running, you have the support of the Relationship Management team who are available to help you grow your business.
