"The support at head office is amazing" – why Travel Counsellors is the best place to be for Sarah

What were you doing before you became a Travel Counsellor?

I’ve always worked in travel, starting very young as a ski tour operator. I then spent 15 years of my career working at a travel agency – 13 of which were in corporate travel. I started as a Business Development Manager and worked my way up to Head of Sales. I took a short career break after adopting my son, then returned to work at another corporate travel management company as a Business Development Manager.

What was it that attracted you to Travel Counsellors?

Everything! The people, the products, the systems – I could go on forever! I was fortunate enough to know quite a few people who had moved to Travel Counsellors. I reached out to everyone I knew who had made the move, and every single one of them could not speak more highly of Travel Counsellors.

I wanted to work with people who had the same passion as I did, and who wanted to deliver exceptional service to their customers each and every time.

What sets Travel Counsellors apart from other franchises?

Everyone is incredibly friendly and the whole community wants you to succeed. The support from fellow Travel Counsellors and head office is amazing. Also, the systems and tools at your disposal are phenomenal.

I love the fact that we are all running our own businesses yet are also part of something so much bigger. Because of this, we have opportunities to attend fantastic events that bring everyone together – such as the annual conference.

How did you find your induction?

The induction was great. It was amazing to be able to do such thorough training remotely. It was incredible to see the wealth of experience within my cohort. We were all so excited to be on the same journey together. Dawn, who delivered the training, was fantastic.

As soon as you start as a Travel Counsellor, you feel like part of the family. Throughout the induction, various directors would join the calls and be involved. I thought that was great. To me, that shows what an open company Travel Counsellors is.

What has the support been like from head office?

The support teams at head office are amazing. If you have any questions or need help with anything, they are more than happy to assist. I like to see myself as quite self-sufficient, but it’s so reassuring to know that should you need a helping hand, there are lots of people who are there for you.

What are you looking forward to most about being a Travel Counsellor?

I’m most looking forward to being involved in a community of people who share the same passion. Your success as a Travel Counsellor is limitless. I’m also looking forward to the flexibility and being able to fulfil my clients’ needs.

What advice would you give to anyone who’s thinking of becoming a Travel Counsellor?

Just do it! I believe there’s no other company that will have the same amount of experience and passion as Travel Counsellors does. It’s a business that really does live by its values.
