Sharing and supporting happen every day at Travel Counsellors, but we wanted to shine a spotlight on just one example that new Travel Counsellor, Grant Bowles, shared with our CEO, Steve Byrne.

I am new to the TC family, having only been a Travel Counsellor for approx. 4 weeks so far – and the whole experience has been absolutely phenomenal.

However, I felt it was indeed appropriate to shout out a fellow Travel Counsellor called Gemma Pauley.

My reasons are quite simple

Gemma has been so helpful when I have been putting together a very complicated, high-value multi centre itinerary for Namibia, Botswana, Victoria Falls, Mozambique plus private island and helicopter transfer!

I put a message out to the TC Community seeking an Africa specialist and Gemma offered up her expertise no questions asked.

I do think it is important that her efforts have helped me become more confident day by day in my new role.

I’ve been building the itinerary in Phenix, working with our DMC partner, Tourvest, and using the online resources Travel Counsellors provide. But you could never find the expertise and insider knowledge that comes from someone like Gemma online, it comes from years of first-hand experience in the industry.

As well as Gemma, I have my assigned mentor, Lucy Althorpe, who I’ve known for over 20 years and is there to support me in my first 6 months of running my business: that’s the ‘official’ timeline for our “New Starter” mentoring relationship anyway, but I know Lucy, Gemma and the rest of the TC Community will be there for me long beyond that, likewise I will be for them!

I have been in travel nearly 30 years and my dream is just to make dreams happy for so many clients

I am due to get married to my partner Andrew in September and our future “plan” is we may start a family, so I want to be able to provide for them from the hard work I put in every day. Becoming a Travel Counsellor, and making fantastic bookings like this, sets me on the path to doing just that!
