How I won the most luxurious trip to Mauritius
Everyone loves a bit of friendly competition, and our Travel Counsellors are no different. We caught up with Travel Counsellor, Mandy Rhodes, a deserving winner of our recent incentive trip to the exotic island of Mauritius. Here’s her account of what she called “the most luxurious trip to Mauritius”…
I won my place on the trip by making just one booking which fit the criteria set by Head Office. It was only a relatively small booking, but achievable and therefore it was a great incentive for me to get a booking over the line, and win a fabulous prize!
I was one of nine Travel Counsellors going on the trip, and we all met in the departure lounge in Heathrow. Somehow we all seemed to flock together even though we had never met before. We all got acquainted in the VIP lounge and then we were upgraded to business class on the flight, that was the start of what turned into the most luxurious trip to Mauritius!
On arrival in Mauritius, we were met by Iris who was our guide throughout our trip and simply amazing! She made each of the excursions so much fun but also gave us lots of information on the local areas. We were welcomed at The Constance Belle Mare Plage by many of the hotel staff, including John who became a part of the group in no time, his sense of humour and his warmth was so genuine.
From here, we went on a One Love boat trip, where Iris sang to us with the barman playing the guitar. We cruised the islands, went snorkelling at Blue Bay Marine Park and saw the waterfall at Grand Riviere Sud Est, all of which was followed by the most amazing BBQ on the beach.
During our stay at the Belle Mare Plage, we enjoyed a golf lesson, a cookery class, a mixology lesson, wine tasting and spa treatments. We had a look at all the room types and they are all amazing. We dined in the various onsite restaurants, my favourite being the Deer Hunter.
Our second hotel, the Constance Le Prince Maurice was breath-taking, even the standard rooms were out of this world! Here, we enjoyed a pastry lesson, wine tasting in the hotel cellar, the largest in the Indian Ocean, and home to a bottle of wine priced at 12,000 (yes,12 thousand) euros! After spa treatments, we had a cocktail party on the beach, followed by an amazing dinner on the floating restaurant. I also tried, and failed, at paddle boarding!
Another winner, Travel Counsellor, Jakki Hatton, exploring the wine cellars of Le Prince Maurice
Le Prince Maurice thought of absolutely everything: alcohol-free bubbly in the children’s bedrooms on arrival in the family suites, a refreshing drink delivered to your room after a gym session, without ordering, a wet swimsuit bag on the day of departure... and the food and drinks were exceptional.

I think the incentive trips are so important for us to experience different destinations that we wouldn’t usually get the opportunity to visit. As you can tell, I learnt an awful lot which will be so beneficial to pass on to clients as well as fellow Travel Counsellors. Trips like this are a fantastic chance to meet colleagues and share and pass ideas on to each other. As a group we have all stayed in touch and will remain in touch in the future.
Mandy couldn't have said it better. If you're ready to be rewarded for your achievements, and become part of a global business which cares about it's people, get in touch to start your career as a Travel Counsellor.
