Members of our community come along for the ride at our 2023 Family Day

Here at Travel Counsellors, we love bringing our community together. That also extends to the loved ones of our Travel Counsellors and head office colleagues – which is why our Family Days are so important to us.

This was our first post-pandemic Family Day, and it’s safe to say our annual tradition is well and truly back with a bang. Around 300 Travel Counsellors, head office colleagues and their families descended on Drayton Manor Resort on the outskirts of Tamworth for a fun-filled, sun-soaked day out.

The day started bright and early with tea, coffee, juice and pastries, while attendees collected their 2023 Family Day t-shirts designed by Sophia Gosher – daughter of Travel Counsellor, Natalie Gosher. Sophia’s design took inspiration from the fact that Travel Counsellors help their customers to go all around the world, while also being a nod to our global community.

With everyone kitted out, it was time for Drayton Manor’s mascot, Rory the Lion, to make a special appearance. With hugs and high-fives all round, Rory certainly brought smiles to the kids’ faces (and even some of the adults’ too!).

After the meet and greet with Rory, it was time to get out and explore the park – although some families opted to keep the lion theme going and cheer on the Lionesses in the Women’s World Cup Final, which was shown on a big screen.

A busy morning exploring Drayton Manor called for a hearty lunch, with burgers, hot dogs, paella and tandoori chicken wraps all featuring on the menu. The entertainment didn’t stop while we all refuelled, with balloon modellers and face painters on hand to keep the little ones thoroughly entertained.

With bellies full, it was time to get back out into the park and onto the rides. From Thomas Land for our youngest guests, to Shockwave (the only stand-up roller coaster in the UK) for the adrenaline-junkies among us, Drayton Manor Resort offered something for everyone. Aside from the rides, there was also a 15-acre zoo to explore, home to over 500 animals from all over the world.

The day was a huge success, and it was fantastic to see so many Travel Counsellors, colleagues and their children getting to know each other, forging friendships and making memories – which is exactly what our caring and inclusive community is all about.
